Another exciting day dawns.. contacted by Which? looking for case studies for their Campaign into PPI. Explained to their publicity officer that I did have cases and I would talk to the clients about using their case for this purpose.
Even my own father who is meticulous about his finances revealed to me last night that he had been charged PPI on his M & S card and in disgust he canceled his card. I asked if he had reclaimed his charges, he could n't be bothered with the hassle.
This was my point to him the apathy of everyone in that they are being charged money for no reason at all ( he is retired and could not claim anyway !) and yet people cannot be bothered.
In the end I persuaded that he should claim back those charges and interest that he is due.
Maybe I should add him to the case study ? what do you think dad?

monday
still sorting more stuff -
Banks have been given another six months grace to put off dealing with customers who want their overdraft charges refunded. The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has extended a decision which it first put in place a year ago.
The FSA said it had done this to help the courts decide the fairness of bank overdraft feesk charges .
how ridulous is that ? yet another case of more mis management by the "powers that be"

Friday
Well even more has happened, the MD of the company attended the Claims Standard Council meeting in London. very nice .. new developments arising ... watch this space....
I am busy as ever, yesterday morning i was giving training on Payment Protection Insurance background, tactics and winning. I had our resident expert with us and it was amazing how many more scams go on and on ,the more you hear about the industry, the worse it appears.
It appears that the salesman have little or no training on FSA regs and then they go on to sale an insurance product? How is this acceptable ?
I had a meeting to discuss the merits of template claim letters and whilst they appear in principle a good idea - how does the customer know when they are getting a decent offer from the vendor ? they don't in my opinion, however i would say that as a solicitor but on the basis i am not paid by the customer win or lose - I am in better place than most to give that opinion.

Financial Claims Service
yet another day dawns and so much to do !
latest statistics are that over 1.5 mill policies of these are sold a year. Anthony ( fellow partner) is an executive member of Claims Standard Council and is travelling down to London for another meeting to discuss Regulatory matters.
I am so pleased that we do not charge the client for the service - so much more ethical after all the client has already been mis sold and has no money to start with.
Spoke to the PR agency who want to feature a case study of ours for Press Release.. Interesting and rather fun.
Spoke with a friend last night - some people are so proud and are unwilling to believe to contemplate that they have been mis-sold any policies,.. unbelievable

The Financial Claims Service
Yet another day trying to fathom why oh why people are taking out these wretched things. The premiums are extortionate and most average person is unaware that they rarely pay out.
Dealt with yet another case today where the Claimant was a police man - never likely to be made redundant ! therefore the point of PPi is ???
Spent the morning on the phone setting up a presentation to give on mis-selling and the key elements.
another morning goes in a flash.
